Our Staff


Doug Nishida, OD, established his practice inside the Marina del Rey Costco in 1999 and brings over 20 years of clinical experience to our office.  Prior to his current practice, Dr. Nishida served as a clinical teaching associate at the Southern California College of Optometry and was a partner and co-founder in the Brentwood Eye Care Associates with Craig Kliger, MD.

Dr. Nishida earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley and his Doctorate degree from the Southern California College of Optometry.  During his training, Dr. Nishida's clinical rotations included the Madigan Army Medical Hospital on Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington, the VA outpatient clinic in downtown Los Angeles, and the Colorado Optometric Center in Denver, Colorado.  Dr. Nishida was awarded the Wesley Jessen Contact Lens Achievement Award, the Sunsoft Outstanding Achievement in Contact Lens Award, and a grant from the California Chapter of the American Academy of Optometry for his research in the contact lens field.

Dr. Nishida has written for WebMD and been a presenter at the American Academy of Optometry.  He attends numerous scientific conferences and meetings annually to keep up to date on the latest advances in eye care.  Dr. Nishida is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a distinction achieved by less than 10 percent of optometrists, and is a member of the Los Angeles County Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and Mensa.

In his spare time, Dr. Nishida enjoys playing tennis, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He is an avid sports fan and roots for the Lakers, Dodgers, and Cal Golden Bears.  Dr. Nishida and his wife, Tia, have three daughters.


Sally Oeung, OD, received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from the University of California at San Diego and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University.  During her optometric training, Dr. Oeung’s clinical rotations included The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA, the VA hospital in Palo Alto, CA, and several other clinical sites specializing in primary care, pediatrics, ocular disease, and specialty contact lenses.  Dr. Oeung also completed an advanced studies program in pediatrics and binocular vision with clinical honors at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA and a specialty contact lens training program at The Vision Care Institute in Jacksonville, FL.

In her spare time, Dr. Oeung enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, volunteering, and traveling.


Joanne Tang, OD, happily joined Dr. Nishida's practice in 2017.  Prior to her move, she was the managing optometrist at a high-volume primary care and contact lens office in Torrance, CA.  Although she has only been practicing as a licensed optometrist since 2015, she has been in the eye industry for over 10 years as a practicing optician.

Dr. Tang graduated with cum laude honors from Arizona State University with a bachelor's in Liberal Arts and Sciences in biology and a couple of years later, started her doctorate program at Illinois College of Optometry.  She graduated with cum laude honors from Illinois College of Optometry in 2015.

During her optometric training, Dr. Tang got to work alongside highly-skilled ophthalmologists and optometrists in all different specialties of the eyes.  Her clinical rotations included working in the pediatric department at the Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago, IL, working in one of the busiest cataract surgery offices in Mesa, Arizona (Swagel Wooten Hiatt eye center), providing vision care for veterans at the VA hospital in West Palm Beach, and diagnosing and treating patients with ocular disease at Midwest Eye Professionals in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Tang is a member of the California Optometric Association as well as the South Bay Optometric Association here in southern California.

In her spare time, Dr. Tang enjoys being outdoors in the sun - running, biking, and hiking.  She also enjoys traveling and experiencing new cultures and food.


Dr. David Yoo graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Science prior to attending the New England College of Optometry.  During his studies, Dr. Yoo gained a passion for optometric relief mission work overseas in impoverished areas that do not have the resources for vision care.  Since then, Dr. Yoo has provided care in Belize, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic and hopes to continue relief missions annually.  He is also committed to his local patients by furthering his own instruction at national and local optometric conferences.  Dr. Yoo enjoys his time off playing basketball and being outdoors hiking and backpacking.   When he has a chance, he likes to travel to other countries to experience new cultures and food.


Melody Huang, OD, is a native Angeleno and has been practicing optometry in the Los Angeles area for over 6 years.  Dr. Huang received her Bachelor of Science degree at UCLA and her Doctorate of Optometry from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry.  She completed clinical rotations in ocular disease at the VA hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and at various ophthalmology/LASIK clinics in Miami, Florida.  She also completed clinical rotations in pediatrics, low vision, and specialty contact lenses at SUNY College of Optometry.

In her spare time, Dr. Huang enjoys discovering new dishes to cook, learning web design, traveling to tropical destinations, going to concerts and sports events, exploring different neighborhoods in LA, and visiting Disneyland.
